Transparency report
Annual reporting on law enforcement requests, scope, and our response. The first report runs after one calendar year of operation.
Before the first report
Our first transparency report publishes after one full calendar year of operation. In the meantime, this page documents the policy we will report against.
The policy we report against
We require a valid legal process for any disclosure of non-public information.
We narrowly scope every response to the specific account and time range named.
We notify affected users of legal process unless prohibited by a non-disclosure order.
We publish aggregate counts annually: total requests, total accounts affected, breakdown by request type and jurisdiction.
We retain a log of every request, redacted to remove personally identifiable information of the requesting parties.
Categories we will report
Subpoenas (federal and state)
Court orders
National security process
Emergency requests
Civil legal process
What we can and cannot produce
We can produce account metadata, billing records, and ciphertext. We cannot produce decrypted vault contents because we do not hold the keys.
